How to Cancel AutoPay in Google Pay (GPay) – 2026 Guide

Cancel, pause or check AutoPay in Google Pay (GPay) step by step. Find the Live tab, stop UPI mandates with your PIN, and fix a missing Cancel button.

Google Pay keeps every UPI AutoPay you have approved — OTT, music, cloud storage, bills — in one Autopay section. From there you can cancel a mandate, pause it for a few weeks, or check exactly how much each one is allowed to debit. Here's how.

Quick answer: open Google Pay → tap your profile picture → Autopay → open the Live tab → select the mandate → tap Cancel autopay → enter your UPI PIN. Future debits stop; past payments are not refunded automatically.

How to cancel AutoPay in Google Pay

    1. Open Google Pay and tap your profile picture (top right).

    2. Scroll down and tap Autopay (under “Manage payments” in recent versions).

    3. Open the Live tab — these are mandates that can still debit your account.

    4. Tap the mandate you want to stop.

    5. Tap Cancel autopay.

    6. Enter your UPI PIN to confirm. The mandate moves to the Completed tab as revoked.

How to pause AutoPay in Google Pay

Open the mandate from the Live tab and tap Pause autopay. Choose the dates you want it paused for. Debits won't happen during that period, and the mandate resumes afterwards.

Profile picture → Autopay shows three tabs. Live: approved mandates that can still debit you — you can pause or cancel these. Pending: requests waiting for you to approve or decline. Completed: mandates that have ended, expired or been cancelled.

Google Pay also notifies you about 24 hours before each debit. Tap that notification to pause or cancel straight away.

    Cancel autopay option not showing?

It's in another app. If the mandate isn't under Live, it was probably approved in PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or your bank's app — see how to cancel AutoPay in PhonePe and how to find all your active mandates.

It's a loan mandate. Google Pay says loan-related mandates can't be cancelled in the app — contact the lender.

It was just created. New autopay requests can take up to 24 hours to appear. Also check you're signed in with the Google account and bank account used for the mandate.

    What happens after you cancel

No more debits happen under that mandate. Earlier payments are not refunded automatically — raise it with the merchant if you were charged wrongly. The service may continue, so also cancel inside the merchant's app (for example Netflix or Spotify). And if you're closing your Google Pay account, Google Pay asks you to revoke any live mandates first.

    Don't recognise the merchant name?

Mandates often show a company's legal name, not the app you signed up for. Check your email for a receipt and search the name. If it still looks wrong, cancel it and report the transaction.
